If you’re in need of gift ideas for anyone on your shopping list this season, you’re in luck! I’ve compiled some of my favorite gift ideas for people of almost any age. My ideas are either products I recommend, or products I think fit the bill for that particular category.
Here are some gifts ideas for those special babies on your shopping list:
Drinkware: Once babies are old enough to start using a cup, I think it’s important to make that cup special. Dr. Andrew Weil has introduced the WeilBaby brand, a line that includes bottles, training cups and drinking cups! I suggest the Training Cup for a baby that will soon be graduating from bottles. I love that all WeilBaby drinking products are made in the USA and are always BPA-Free. Price: $9.99.
Swaddling Blankets: It’s no secret that I love swaddling! It’s been so important in getting both of my little ones to sleep through the night in their earliest months. One product that’s been recommended to me over and over again are Aden & Anais muslin swaddling blankets. The oversize, lightweight squares of adorably decorated muslin fabric are perfect for wrapping baby up securely and helping him or her feel soothed and safe. 4-Pack of blankets: $44.
Footwear: Is it true that the smaller the baby, the cuter the shoes? I’m inclined to think that’s true. While it’s not an absolutely necessary article of clothing, is there anything more adorable than this set of Bambooties by Satsuma? I know, they’re $25 and a total luxury, but they’ll also keep baby’s toes warm through the winter.
Burp Cloths: Burp cloths are just fun little accessories for a mom to show off! I was lucky enough to have my own mom make me a bunch of burp cloths out of soft flannel, but if your inclined to buy them, how about the BabbaBurpie. It’s unique design allows you to turn the cloth inside out and use it again when the first side gets dirty. It comes in several stylish prints, too! A 2-pack of BabbaBurpies is priced at $22.50.
Infant Seat Cover: There are tons of options for keeping baby covered while in his or her bucket-style car seat, but I’ve never seen one as purposeful as the Sprout Infant Carrier Cover. It’s design allows it to be not only a super-cute car seat cover, but also a nursing cover, shopping cart cover and high chair cover all in one. At $40, it’s a steal for all of those functions rolled into one!
Photo Book: Our little ones don’t get to see their grandparents or extended family more often than once a week, and usually longer than that! Last year, we had the bright idea to create a photo book “picture book” to help our son learn family member’s names, but we quickly realized it would get ruined since he’s still pretty rough with paper pages. I was so excited to learn about the Take Your Pix Board Book Photo Album. It’s simply a board book with windowed pages where you can insert up to $20 pictures. This is the perfect way to teach a little one about absolutely any subject of your choice! Price is between $20 and $25.
Learning Toys: After much reading, I’ve come to the conclusion that almost every toy is learning toy provided your child actually plays with it! Some products intended to be “learning toys” are better than others, and I love this Teach My Baby set. For $50, it includes nesting blocks, finger puppets, board books, textured and mirrored flashcards, a story board, puzzles and more. It’s all packaged into a handy tote to help keep the pieces together, too! The individual pieces would cost double that if purchased separately! It’s available at Babies R Us, Toys R Us and Teach-My.com.
“Green” Toys: If you need gifts for an eco-conscious family, there’s a new wave of eco-friendly toys out there right now. Check out Jasper’s Jungle, a line of toys made from organic cotton and sustainable rubberwood. I love the Pull Along Elephants, a set of mother-and-baby elephants with an adorable mouse on a pull string. Priced from $20-$34, available online and at select Whole Foods stores.
Baby Bath Products: It’s incredibly important to find baby bath products that work for baby’s sensitive skin. While the usual brands found at drugstores work, a special holiday gift might include a more luxurious product for baby. Jenerations Baby products are all made with organic and natural products, and they’re free from sulfates and parabans. Available online and at Babies R Us and Buy, Buy Baby for $7-$13.
Reusable Baby Wipes: This product has intrigued me for quite some time. While cloth diapers aren’t for everyone, I think most environmentally-conscious moms would give reusable wipes a try. Especially ones that make it easy on mom. Take a look at the Bottoms-Up Baby Wipes All-In-One Kit. It includes the wipes, “clean” and “dirty” containers, “clean” and “dirty” waterproof travel bags and essential oils. The entire kit costs $59.95, which is far less than the average parent spends on baby wipes in one year!
