Johnson’s Natural Baby Products : An Affordable Green Baby Option

baby dealsI know there are lots of organic, natural and/or simply “green” options for baby products. I completely understand how much better they are and (usually) how much better they perform than the “regular” baby products. I do, however, take a big issue with the general cost of green baby products. From everything I’ve researched, natural and organic brands of baby toiletries are usually 3 or 4 times more expensive than the other brands!

Thankfully, Johnson’s is taking a step in the right direction to change the expense factor in baby cleansing and moisturizing products. Their new Johnson’s Natural line is made from a special combination of 98% naturally-derived ingredients. The feature I’m most excited about is that these products contain the first naturally-derived “No More Tears” formula! The items in the Johnson’s Natural brand also have none of the parabans, dyes or essential oils that might irritate tender skin. Even better, the packaging consists of 60% post-consumer recycled materials, meaning less actual “raw” materials were used to create the packages!

I received a nice selection of Johnson’s Natural products to try out on Haiden and Piper, and I have nothing but good things to say about their performance. The baby shampoo and head-to-toe wash worked wonderfully, even on particularly dirty days where the kids played outside for long stretches. I don’t like to scrub my kids (I think running a washcloth over them after soaking in the tub should do the job most of the time!) and the cleansers cleaned Haiden and Piper up quickly and easily. The Natural Baby Lotion is fabulous! The scent is soft and clean, and it absorbs quickly to make after-bath time that much easier.

My only criticism about this line of products is that they’re “natural” and not actually certified as organic. There’s such a big difference in the two terms and I was a little disappointed that not part of the product is made from certified organic ingredients. However, you have to start somewhere, and I love that the packaging is made from post-consumer recycled materials!

If you’re looking to take a small step toward “greener” products for your baby, you should keep an eye out for the Johnson’s Natural line!
