Bumbleride Flite Review: An Affordable Option for a Premium Stroller

bumbleride-flite-reviewBumbleride is not a new name in our home. My babies still love the Bumbleride Indie Twin that I reviewed last winter, and we use it practically every day! I thought it would be a good idea to have a single stroller for when I’m taking just one of the little ones out by myself. I was so excited to learn that Bumbleride was releasing the Flite, and I’m thrilled to partner with them for a Bumbleride Flite Review!

We received the Bumbleride Flite in Ruby red several weeks ago. It was efficiently packaged in a box that didn’t weight much at all, considering it contained a stroller! This made me happy right from the start. Honestly, I’m a big wimp, and I struggle with anything heavy! Here are photos of the box and the contents:

The contents of the box were very straightforward, and the instructions were ridiculously easy. The Flite showed up on my doorstep just before I was heading out to the bookstore with Piper, but I was so excited to take it for a spin I put off leaving until it was all assembled. The assembly was really quick. We just snapped the pieces together, including the wheels and canopy, and we were ready to go! The entire process literally took less than 20 minutes. I do have to add that we didn’t spend time on the included accessories that we didn’t need, like the infant headrest and car seat adapter. After it was all set, I popped Piper in for a model shot of the Bumbleride Flite before we headed out:

I have to tell you, this is one nice little stroller! Piper was completely perky during our test ride, but I was happy to see that the seat reclines very far back for when she does get sleepy. It also has really nice, ergonomic handles that feel so much better than a single, continuous handle. It also handles really, really well. This stroller allows for one-handed turning, which is really nice when I’m trying to balance my cup of coffee, wallet and bottle full of formula at the same time! It also folds up beautifully. The folding requires two hands, but it folds up quite compactly and locks into the compact form automatically. Once it’s locked you can flip it on its side and grab the built-in handle to carry it away.

I think the absolute best thing about this stroller is its weight. It’s only 13 pounds! That’s lighter than my vacuum cleaner, and I fully trust it to safely transport my child (with my assistance)! The color is also beautiful. I’m usually a practical person when it comes to baby goods, and I prefer neutral colors like black and tan. This stroller is a bold ruby red, and I love it! It’s a bit showy, but it’s fun to hear my son say, “I want to ride in the red stroller!” A few other things I love are the the sun canopy and the 5-point harness. While I don’t need the shoulder harness, it’s really nice to know that an infant can ride upright in this lightweight stroller without worrying about her slipping forward. The sun canopy is also a huge bonus for a light stroller. The sunshade usually seems to be neglected in smaller strollers, and sun protection is so important. It’s fabulous to see that feature taken into account.

I only have one area of concern: the top crossbar doesn’t lock into place. I was honestly concerned that the stroller might collapse, but I contacted Bumbleride about this and here’s what they had to say:

“The Flite has two mechanisms to prevent the stroller at all times from folding on itself. The handle triggers and kickplate would have to be disengaged for this to happen. Please note that the Flite cannot fold on itself without disengaging both the handle and footplate which would not be done with the child inside. …What sounds like may be happening is the center bar is not staying down while in use and this is expected/part of the design. The reason for this is, by having the bar not lock; it removes an added step from the fold. The reason that bar is there is to make sure the handles do not spread outwards, possibly breaking them. If you use the stroller and push inwards, the bar will come up. In normal use, the bar should stay down the majority of the time. We are also working on getting it to work better while in use while still auto collapsing at the same time.”

Let me tell you, I was so reassured when I heard that explanation! It’s nice to know that there are safety mechanisms in place to keep the stroller from collapsing while a child in there, and it’s also fantastic to know that they’re aware of these concerns and they’re working on the issue.

baby-deals-bumblerideOverall, I have to say that the Bumbleride Flite is a great stroller! Bumbleride is known as one of the premium stroller brands, and this could possibly be the only stroller you ever need to buy. It’s great for short trips to the mall, day trips to the zoo, and the lightweight, compact size would make it perfect for traveling! At $249, you can get a luxury-brand stroller at an affordable price!

Buy it: The Bumbleride Flite is available for online purchase from Amazon.com for $249 with free shipping.

Disclosure: Bumbleride provided me a free sample in exchange for my honest feedback on its build, functionality and aesthetic qualities.

  1. I LOVE the look of that stroller! I’m currently looking for a stroller and will definitely be looking into this one. Thanks for the thorough review!

  2. Kimora says:

That looks like a nice stroller..but I’m not paying $250.00 for it..That’s waaaay too much money when I can get an equally great stroller from Graco or Even Flo for half that price! And might I add that we are in a recession still.. But it was a nice review though..

  3. Katie says:

Wow – Looks like an awesome stroller – and baby looks so happy in it!!! I love that you included information about the safety features.

  4. Thanks for the great review! We have a Flite, too, and I had the same concern about the crossbar . It seemed to get better with more use. I agree it’s an awesome stroller with many great features in a very lightweight package.

  5. Sheila says:

That seems to be an awesome stroller and I was ready to click on the link to order the green one………..until I got to the price. $250 would not be an affordable option in my opinion. Loved reading your review and if I come upon some extra moola I will be all over ordering that stroller.

  6. Kathy says:

We love Bumbleride. I really would love to have a stroller like this. I do agree that the $250 price tag seems a little high for a lightweight stroller, but I also know that for a Bumbleride it is worth it!

  7. Amanda says:

I’ve never tried Bumbleride, but the Flite looks like it would have been a nice small stroller to have. We had to get rid of the one we had (not Bumbleride brand) because our youngest child is so tall.

  8. Thanks for the comments, everyone!
@Kimora I completely understand (and agree!) that $250 is more expensive than the standard Graco or Evenflo stroller, but I disagree that they’re “equally great”. I’ve traveled with a Graco single stroller and the Bumbleride Flite is superior to the Graco in several ways, namely weight, durability and compact size. I understand that a $250 price tag isn’t for everyone, but this stroller may possibly be the only one you’d ever need to buy for one child.

  9. That stroller looks a million times more comfortable for the baby than my $30 umbrella stroller. And It looks like the perfect height too – my cheapo umbrella stroller has the handles so low I am almost crouching down.

Thank you for the thorough review. Looks like it a very durable stoller that will last many children!

  10. Brittany says:

So much information! What a great looking stroller! When my kids were younger I didn’t know that there were so many options for snazzy strollers, makes me wish (only a tiny bit) that I had little ones !

  11. nicole says:

I’m in need of a new stroller mine has completely fallen apart and it was a high -end one. This one sounds just perfect!

  12. What a great looking stroller!

  13. That looks like a really neat stroller. I need one so badly with my two kids, this might be a good choice for us!
